Hello,
I always start off the New Year like so many others with good intentions. I get my list together. I do one thing on the list and get side tracked into do a lot of nothing. Well, this time I am catching myself before I get to deep in the year. Sooooo, I'm back on track.
This Saturday starts the Children Series of Sewing Classes for ages 8 - 12 years old. If you look at one of the previous blogs I posted some pictures last year of the beautiful pillowcases the students made. Last year, the Children classes made, Pillowcases, Christmas Stockings, Lounge Pants and pin cushions. They had so much fun I am repeating some of the projects and adding some new ones along the way.
If you have a young one interested in sewing please sign them up. Class starts this Saturday, March 2 & March 9th at 1:30 -3:30pm. The first class is a Beginner class and the second class is the Project Class. They will be making a Pillowcase using the Tube Technique.
Adult Beginner Classes, Saturday, March 9th at 10:00 - 12:00pm - Don't miss it! Then next class is in April. Get ready for your Easter guest, serve then in the new Apron you made yourself. Not only will you receive compliments on your delicious dinner. You will receive compliments on your fabulous attire. Saturday, March 23rd @ 10:00 - 1:00 pm and yes snacks/lunch are welcome.
This is the Pincushion you will make. It ties to your sewing machine as seen on Pintrest.

Happy New Year!
I wish all of you a Blessed 2013!
I had such a busy end of the year of teaching classes. I wasn't able to keep up with my blog, FB or Etsy store. My daughters Sydney and Hailey who some of you have met at my classes, will now be helping me with keeping all of these things up to date. We have been brain storming, and you will start seeing a gradual change.
Well I have listed upcoming classes for the end of January and February. If there is a class you would like to have and you don't see it, please leave me a message or call me.
2012 was awesome! Meeting very creative children, teens and adult. I look forward to what 2013 has in store.
Thank you

Look what we made in our second class of the Childrens Series Sewing Class. Yes, Designer Pillowcases. I truly had so much fun with this group of talented girls. Our first class they learned how to sew and made a simple pin cushion. That's me in the middle. The girls were so excited about making there own pillowcase. They learned a new method of putting together there pillowcase, the tube method.

A look inside the class room!
The finished product! She made this in less then 2 hours.
I have so much fun teaching children the art of sewing. I am blessed to meet wonderful girls and boys. Yes, sewing is not just for girls. Each month I am offering a series of 3 to 4 sewing classes. For the month of November there will be a Beginner Class, Apron Class, and a Christmas Stocking Class.
A special THANK YOU to Mel for taking all these great pictures!

Pressing Ham
Not exactly what your were expecting, right? Well, no I'm not talking about Ham you eat.
Your probably saying what is that a picture of, well keep reading this is good.
A lot of people ask me, How do I get a professional look when I am sewing? or
When I sew why do I have that homemade look? The answer is simple, if you have taken a class with me before, you have heard me say it over and over. Press as you Go! A very important Rule.
BUT, I'd like to elaborate on that. Because if you don't have the right notions you still won't have quite the professional look. A big part of achieving a professional look to your finished project is good pressing.
The Sewing Gadget of this week is the Sewing Ham, or Sleeve Board. I found this excellent tutorial from
http://www.mymeasuringtape.blogspot.com/ It cost about $12.00 in the stores. But you can make it for much less incorporating your own fabric for your own design Tailor Ham. Since I found this tutorial I won't be purchasing one.
Remember:
When sewing, never sew over an un-pressed seam. Always press the seam open as you go. This will make sewing easier and will improve the quality & hang of your finished garment. Giving you a professional finished garment or project.
Happy Sewing!

Changes - Sewing Classes
I had a great 4th of July with my family and friends and I hope you did too. I have been creating a lot of new items for my online store. I'm happy to say business is starting to pickup. I am trying to gear up before the holiday's get here.
I have so many interested and I have a passion for them all. But there comes a time when you have to make a business assessment. It is very hard to accommodate the many different schedules. So there are a few changes to the classes that I offer. I will be only teaching 1 Saturday a month. The second Saturday of the month will be my designated sewing day. Classes will still be based on registration.
I have updated the CLASSES and REGISTRATION pages. It is much more user friendly. I will always have a Beginner Class the Sewing 102 Class will be a project class. Each month the project class might change.
Right now I am also putting the childrens classes on hold. If you have a few friends that are interested in sewing. I would be more then happy to have a childrens class.
I will be blogging more also, sharing sewing tips and making a few helpful videos. So please check back.
This is not the end of sewing classes. This is a new beginning with a better way.
Thank sew much!
